To begin, jack or hoist up the rear of the vehicle so that the lift is put under the frame rail crossmember behind the rear axle to avoid bending the side rail flange. Raise the vehicle by the frame and then use the hydraulic jack to remove the load on the axle. Next, remove both the wheel and tire assemblies and the nuts, U-bolts and spring plate from the axle. After that, detach both the nut and bolt from the spring's front eye and from the spring shackle to the rear bridge and then carefully take the spring and shackle off the car. When installing, position the spring shackle on the spring finger tightly. Then, set the spring on the axle pad with the spring center bolt inside the pad locating hole. Line up the front spring eye with the bolt hole on the front frame bracket, slide the spring eye bolt through and put the nut on the bolt, finger tight. Insert the spring shackle eye into the rear bracket hole, fasten in the bolt and nut and tighten the spring shackle eye nut a bit on your hand. After putting in the spring seat, attach the U-bolts, spring plate and nuts, holding U-bolt nuts to 149 Nm (110 ft. lbs.). Attach the wheel and tire assemblies, drop the support stands and let the springs take the weight of the vehicle. Last, make sure all spring eye pivot nut bolts and all shackle nuts are torqued to 163 Nm (120 ft. lbs.).
