How to Service and Repair Wheel Bearings and Wheel Hubs on Dodge Dakota?

Before fixing the front hub and bearing, first lift the vehicle and place it on stands, then remove the wheel and tire from the axle. Proceed to remove the brake caliper and rotor and if your car has an ABS sensor, remove it after that. For models labeled 4X4, remove the halfshaft nut. It's best to detach the tie rod end or ball joint without hitting the knuckle with a hammer to avoid damaging the steering knuckle. Pull up on the steering knuckle while holding the hub/bearing to take the halfshaft off, then get rid of the three bolts from the steering knuckle that hold the hub/bearing. Pull the bearing/hub out of the steering knuckle and take out the brake dust shield after that.

How to Service and Repair the Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub on Dodge Ram 1500?

Before starting the front hub and bearing service on a 4X2, first lift and stabilize the vehicle, then remove the wheel and tire. Later, take out the brake caliper and rotor and then remove the ABS wheel speed sensor if you have one. Now, get rid of the three hub/bearing mounting bolts connecting the steering knuckle to the hub. After that, separate the hub/bearing from the steering knuckle and take off the brake dust shield.

Proceed to remove the brake caliper and rotor and if your car has an ABS sensor, remove it after that. For models labeled 4X4, remove the halfshaft nut. It's best to detach the tie rod end or ball joint without hitting the knuckle with a hammer to avoid damaging the steering knuckle. Pull up on the steering knuckle while holding the hub/bearing to take the halfshaft off, then get rid of the three bolts from the steering knuckle that hold the hub/bearing. Pull the bearing/hub out of the steering knuckle and take out the brake dust shield after that.
