  Set the oil level in the accumulator correctly when installing or it could negatively affect the A/C system and harm the compressor. A new accumulator must be put in if the A/C Compressor fails to protect other systems from another breakdown. If you are only replacing the accumulator, put 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the proper oil for the A/C compressor into the system.
