Dodge Nitro Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Service and Install an Air Bag Sensor on Dodge Nitro?
    A:
You must disable the SRS and disconnect the battery's negative cable along with waiting for two minutes before you replace the sensor for your safety. Be careful not to hit or drop your front sensor, since issues or calibration problems may happen if you do; if the sensor is dropped, it must be replaced. To work on the right front impact sensor, first loosen the air filter housing, while working on the left front sensor takes raising the vehicle and then removing the wheel house liner plug. Put right or left front impact sensor (5) inside the engine compartment and join the jumper wire harness (4) to the sensor's connector on the body wire harness (2). Put the sensor on top of the stud (6) in the back of the front end module carrier and make sure the pin's notch is cleared and the connector receptacle is facing downward. Fasten the nut (3) on top of the stud and tighten it to 8 Nm (71 in. lbs.), using a torque wrench. Do not attach the battery negative cable to the chassis until the SRS verification test is done after performing any work on an SRS component.
