How to service and repair the heater core on Dodge Ram 2500 Van?

Before servicing or repairing the heater core, first take out the heater-A/C housing from the engine compartment according to the steps explained in Housing Assembly HVAC/Service and Repair. Then, open the top cover by removing it from the heater-A/C housing. Unscrew the bracket holding the heater core tube to the mounting boss above the heater-A/C housing, lift it out and then remove the heater core from the housing. When installing, first connect the heater core to the bottom of the heater-A/C housing. After that, set and tighten the heater core tube support bracket screw to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After installation, put the heater-A/C housing over the driver hoses and then secure it into the engine compartment according to the Housing Assembly HVAC/Service and Repair procedure.
