How to Service and Repair a Rear Wheel Hub and Bearing on Dodge Stratus?

Before changing or repairing the rear wheel hub and bearing, lift the car, take off the tire and remove the wheel. Should the car have rear disc brakes, release the rear brake caliper by pulling the rotor straight off the wheel mounting studs. You will have to take out the brake drum if you have rear drum brakes. After that, take off the dust cap at the rear of the hub and the bearing assembly and then come off the hub and bearing retaining nut. Lift the rear hub and bearing from the spindle by hand. Set the upper and lower nuts along the knuckle spindle, then put the hub and bearing assembly in place. Finally, put a NEW retaining nut on the spindle and tighten it to 250 Nm (185 ft. lbs.). Pound the hub and bearing cap into place using a soft faced hammer. Replace the brake rotor and brake caliper if your vehicle features rear disc brakes and if it has drum brakes, put back the drum and set the brake shoes according to their needs. Wheelhub, fix the rear wheel and tire and while tightening, criss-cross the wheel stud nuts, reaching 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) of torque, once all are tightened, bring the vehicle down from the jacks.
