Q: How to Install a Valve Body and Finalize the Transmission Assembly on Dodge Challenger?
A:
Place the valve body as shown in the instructions and connect the bolts, before tightening them to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). After that, fit the new transmission oil filter. Be sure to apply a fresh sealing patch on the bolt with Mopar(R) Lock & Seal Adhesive before inserting the oil pan bolt into the hole between the torque converter clutch and U/D clutch pressure tap circuits. Wipe the transmission oil pan and case rail dry, then skip for Rtv and put the oil pan into the case; put the bolts and apply a torque of 20 Nm (14.5 ft. lbs.). Adjust the vehicle so it can be lifted and install the connector for the transmission range sensor, next the solenoid/pressure switch assembly and, if available, the variable line pressure assembly connector. As soon as the car is lowered, top off the transmission with Atf+4, avoid overfilling and ensure the fluid level is correct. If the valve body has been renovated or changed, you need to follow the Quick Learn Procedure.
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Valve Body on Dodge Grand Caravan?
A:
Before replacing the valve body, first raise the car on a hoist. New 2/4 clutch oil seal and O-rings should be installed on the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes. Be sure that the manual lever is all the way forward to avoid the manual valve pin getting stuck and slide the pin into the slot on the rooster comb. Put the valve body over the underdrive compounder assembly oil transfer tubes and push it until it is secured. Affix the twenty-one valve body to the case with its bolts, then tighten them to 6 Nm. Screw the pin attached to the detente arm into the hole in the valve body. Squeeze tight until it has 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.) of torque. Hook the electrical connector at the valve body, raise the hoist and set the valve body oil pan using a layer of Mopar(R) Atf Rtv (Ms-gf41). Secure the upper valve body oil pan bolts to 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.) and also tighten the pressure tap at the valve body oil pan. Bring the car down and connect the solenoid pack connector to the oil pan at the valve body. Lift the vehicle once more to put in the lower valve body oil pan bolts with 6 Nm (50 in. lbs.) of torque, afterward fasten the left side inner wheel splash shield screws. First, lower the vehicle, then link the shift cable to the manual shifter and finally attach the lower radiator hose and secure the clamps. Fill the coolant, link the battery cable, top up the transmission and drive the vehicle to check it.
