Before starting to service the blower motor resistor, you must shut off the air bag system by removing the negative battery cable, then wait two minutes so that the air bag system capacitor discharges. There needs to be a five-minute wait after you turn off the blower, since the resistor may get hot. First, remove the glove box and next, unlock the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor. Reach the top screw through the glove box, unscrew it, get to the next screw under the instrument panel and undo it to disconnect the blower motor resistor from the HVAC housing. To fit the new blower motor resistor, place it in the HVAC housing from underneath the instrument panel and tighten the lower screw to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs., then pull the upper screw through the glove box and tighten it to the same tightness. Plug the wire harness connector into the blower motor resistor, make sure the lock clicks, put back the glove box and then attach the negative battery cable.
