Set the A/C refrigerant oil first, as this prevents the compressor from being damaged when you install the expansion valve. You should use the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart when changing several A/C components. Whenever you disconnect a refrigerant line, be sure to put on new seals and gaskets so that leaks do not occur. Take out tape or plugs from both the evaporator tube fittings and the expansion valve ports before you do anything else. Use clean refrigerant oil and put on the O-ring seals from the R-134a system, made for the compressor, onto the evaporator tube fittings. After that, put the A/C expansion valve on the evaporator tube tapping block and hold it in place with replacement plugs, using two bolts tightened to 11 Nm (97 in. lbs.). Pull out the tape or plugs from the two AC lines, grease the new O-rings and install them on the lines. Fasten the A/C suction and liquid lines to the A/C expansion valve and apply a nut, securing it with a wrench to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Place the air intake tube and resonator back, hook back the negative battery cable, drain the refrigerant, set the refrigerant oil to the proper level and refill the refrigerant system.
