For any camshaft oil seal work, you should start by taking out the timing belt. Before removing the center bolt, slip Special Tool 6847 over every camshaft sprocket. Next, unscrew the sprockets, take off the exhaust camshaft target ring and sensor next and make sure to inspect them for wear while you clean the sensor face and add a new spacer. After removing the cover of the rear timing belt, use a Special Tool C-4679-a to extract the camshaft seal, being sure not to damage either the seal or shaft where it fits. If the shaft seal surface is covered with varnish, dirt or has nicks, sand it with 400 grit paper before the installation. Put in the camshaft seals with Special Tool Md-998306 until their top surfaces are flush with the head surface. Reattach the rear cover of the timing belt, so the target ring tab snaps securely and firmly onto the camshaft. Place the exhaust camshaft target ring with the word Front facing forward and then put the exhaust camshaft sensor on. Slide the camshaft sprockets in place and use Special Tool 6847 to hold each as you turn the center bolt until you reach a torque of 101 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). Afterward, place and tighten the timing belt and both the front pump and cover.
