How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on Jeep Wrangler?

Before you begin work on the fuel filler neck, disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable first. Take out the left rear lamp and elevate and support the vehicle. Free the clamp holding the fuel filler tube hose to the fuel tank, then take off the On-Board Refueling Vapor Recovery vacuum line from both the ORVR control valve and the fuel filler tube. After that, disconnect the fresh air line quick-connect fitting from the Evaporative System Integrity Monitor (ESIM) at the fuel filler tube. Remove the screw that connects the top fuel filler tube hose clamp to the tank and take the lower one out from the fuel tank. Take off the wheel and tire and then the left rear wheelhouse splash shield. Then take out the bolt that holds the fuel filler tube support bracket, reach into the space behind the rear lamps and disconnect the fuel filler tube, ESIM fresh air hose and ESIM fresh air filter from the rubber grommet inside the fuel fill housing in one motion. Remove the four closed body isolators from the left side and raise the body with a suitable screw jack to allow for fuel filler tube removal. After that, pull out the fuel filler tube from below the car and turn it downward to remove the fuel filler tube, ORVR vacuum line, ESIM fresh air hose and ESIM fresh air filter together.

How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on Jeep Patriot?

Before starting service or repair, drain the fuel tank if it contains more than half a tank of fuel. Take away the battery's negative cable and relax the fuel filler tube cap before you begin. Jack the car up, then bring the vehicle down long enough to remove the left rear wheel and the inner splash shield. After that, take out the fuel filler tube black hose from the fuel tank neck. Unscrew the mounting screw from the filler tube and take out the complete assembly.
