To work on or fix the trunk or liftgate latch, take out the liftgate insulator pad first. After that, remove the three bolts holding the latch and guide plate to the liftgate and remove the latch. Start by squeezing the cable clips beneath the cable covering, then pull out the entire cable housing, detach the latch cable from the lever and take out the cable. For installation, link the latch cable to the latch and replace the latch as you did before. Place the guide plate on the brackets and screw it in, leaving 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.) of tension on the bolts. Before fixing the insulator pad, make sure the liftgate latches have clicked in at the required time.
