How to Service the Wiper Pivot Linkage on Jeep Commander?

The best way to service the wiper motor linkage is by unhooking and disconnecting the negative cable from the battery. After that, take off both front wiper arms from their pivot points. After that, remove the cover/grille piece that covers the front wiper module. Afterward, take out the nut that holds the bottom of the front wiper module bracket to the mounting stud in the cowl plenum, then remove the two screws that connect the wiper module bracket to the cowl plenum. After that, separate the wire harness connector from the wiper motor receptacle and remove the entire wiper module from the cowl plenum.

How to Install the Wiper Pivot Linkage on Jeep Liberty?

Place the front wiper module as a unit into the cowl plenum and install the front wiper motor bracket rubber over the weld stud on the base of the cowl plenum. With loose force, fit the two side screws of the bracket firmly to the cowl plenum, in this order and limit the torque to 8 Nm (72 in. lbs.). After that, handle the front wiper motor by pressing down and attaching to the rubber insulator while securing it to the two weld studs on the bottom of the cowl plenum with a torque of 7.5 Nm (67 in. lbs.). After connecting the front wiper motor's connector to its motor receptacle, install the cowl plenum cover/grille panel. After turning the ignition to ON, operate the front wiper switch a few times until the wiper linkage returns to its resting position. Only after that, should you reinstall both wiper arms to the wiper pivots. Make sure to attach the battery negative cable in the last step.
