Before beginning installation, turn off the supplemental restraint system to stop the
Air Bags from launching unexpectedly, mainly for vehicles with extra seat-mounted side air bags. First, unconnect and separate the negative
Battery Cable and give the system another two minutes to pass discharge through the main capacitor. Take care not to hit or drop the occupant restraint controller, since hitting it may ruin the impact sensor and make you replace the whole unit. If the Occupant Classification System is included, put in one component, verify the supplemental restraint system and then replace the second part, instead of changing them both at once. Line up the ORC with the four studs on the ORC mount in the tunnel floor, so the housing is flush and the arrow on the label points to the cab end of the car. Place and tighten four nuts on the ORC, increasing the torque to 9 Nm or 80 in. lbs. Link the body wire harness and instrument panel wire harness back to the ORC, ensuring the latches are all lined up properly. Unplug the negative battery cable before putting the center console in again after the test is done.
