How to Install a Cam Gear and Timing Chain on Jeep Wrangler?

First, rotate the crankshaft so the arrow on the timing marker is pointing to 12 o'clock. Before you install the timing chain and sprockets, rub clean oil on them. Inserting the timing chain between the sprocket and chain, align its plated link with the dot on the sprocket and set the timing arrow at 6 o'clock. Then, put the timing chain around the crankshaft sprocket making sure the plated link matches the dot on the sprocket and raise the camshaft sprocket into place. Employ a straight edge to see if the observed timing marks are in line. Add and quill the camshaft sprocket bolt and washer, then fasten them by tightening the bolt to 54 Nm. If the timing marks don't overlap when turning the crankshaft 2 times, you should remove the camshaft sprocket and try to get the timing marks to match. After that, install the timing chain cover and attach the negative terminal of the battery to the car.
