2000 Dodge Durango A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Before you go on to service or repair the A/C accumulator, disconnect and detach the battery's negative cable. Take out the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Unscrew the fittings securing the front and back liquid line block to the A/C accumulator, then pull off the block and put plugs or tape over any open refrigerant line fitments. After that, loosen the screw that holds the A/C accumulator mounting bracket to the front fender wheelhouse front extension and remove the A/C accumulator from the engine compartment. Secure the A/C accumulator and its bracket as one to the front of the fender wheelhouse extension and then only tighten one mounting screw to hold them loosely. Unhook the tape or plugs off the front liquid line block fitting and A/C accumulator inlet, then attach the front liquid line block fitting to the inlet of the A/C accumulator and screw it down to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lb.) of pressure. Follow these same steps to tighten the liquid line block fitting on the rear and the A/C accumulator outlet, tightening each one to 13.5 Nm (120 in. lbs.). Tighten the A/C accumulator bracket screw to 6.8 Nm (60 in. lbs.), attach the battery negative cable again, vacuum any refrigerant and fill the system with fresh air. Once you install a new A/C accumulator, always add 30 ml (1 fluid ounce) of the proper oil for the compressor together with the refrigerant.
