- Q: How to Service and Repair a Blend Door Actuator on 2000 Dodge Durango?A: Before working on the air door actuators, first remove and isolate the battery negative cable. Take the instrument panel assembly out of the car. For the floor-defrost door actuator, unplug the two vacuum harness connectors, remove the push nut retainer securing the actuator link to the crank arm and take out the two screws that hold the actuator to the heater-A/C housing. Separate the actuator link from the crank arm and then take out the actuator. Once you have prepared the TV, reverse what you did during removal and tighten the mounting screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). Begin by disconnecting the vacuum harness connector, unscrew the two attachments to the heater-A/C housing, rotate the actuator clockwise and take it out. Go backward through the removal process, tightening the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.) when you install the battery. Recirculation air door actuators are available only on cars fitted with air conditioning. Once you've disconnected the battery and removed the instrument panel assembly, if your vehicle came with it, remove the Infinity speaker system amplifier. Unplug both the vacuum harness connectors from the recirculation air door actuator, remove the two stamped nuts connecting it to the blower motor housing cover and unhook the actuator link from the lever, before removing the actuator. Remove the blower motor housing cover and then secure the nuts evenly to position the actuator correctly on the cover.
