2000 Dodge Durango A/C Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Switch on 2000 Dodge Durango?
A: Before repairing or servicing the control assembly on a car with air bags, disconnect and isolate the battery's negative cable. Separate the cluster bezel from the instrument panel, then remove the four screws connecting the heater-A/C control to it. Pull the heater-A/C control assembly out of the panel to see the connections at the rear. Cut off the wire harness connector, free it from its retainer and open the two nuts that hold the vacuum harness connector to the valve before you unplug it. Push the latch on the cable housing flag retainer and unlock the flag retainer. Patch the heater-A/C assembly so the cable core slides into the slot in the temperature control lever and the cable end comes loose from the bracket. Get rid of the heater-A/C control on the dashboard. For installation, join the core end of the temperature control cable to the temperature control lever and lock the housing flag retainer into place. Attach the harness connector to the vacuum and add the two stamped nuts. Attach the wire harness connector and bring back the retainer to its position. Hold the heater-A/C control over the instrument panel and install it with four screws, making certain they are tightened to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.). After putting in the cluster bezel, join the negative battery cable and check the range controls.
