2001 Dodge Durango Blend Door Actuator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Replace a Blend Door Actuator in Your HVAC System on 2001 Dodge Durango?
A: Start by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable to turn off the air bag system, then give it two minutes so the system's capacitor discharges before you go further. Remove the three screws that hold the heater core shield to the left end of the HVAC distribution housing after you pull out the silencer from under the driver side of the instrument panel. Release the two location tabs at the rear of the heater core shield and move it backward to take it out from the distribution housing. Then, separate the HVAC wire harness connector from the blend door actuator and remove both screws that secure the actuator to the distribution housing. After that, take out the actuator. Align the splines on the blend door actuator shaft with those on the air conditioner/heater housing before pressing in the actuator knob. Screw the actuator in place with the two screws, ensuring each screw is at 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.) and attach the HVAC wire harness connector. Secure the heater core shield in place, joining the location tabs and tighten the three screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.). Put the silencer back under the driver side part of the instrument panel and attach the battery negative cable. At last, perform the heater-A/C control calibration with the DRM lll.
