  A: Removing the center console and moving the rear seat with its carpet is the first step in servicing or repairing the rear parking brake cable. With a screwdriver, push up on the front cable, placing it through the front cable eyelet, as your assistant pries down the lock out spring using a small screwdriver through the side of the brake lever, allowing the front cable to slowly come loose and there is slack if the lock out spring is engaged. Remove the rear cable ends from the equalizer, squish the cable retainers with a 13 mm wrench and take out the cable from the equalizer bracket. Carefully lift the vehicle, detach the wheels and tires, the calipers, caliper anchors and rotors, in that order.
