2001 Dodge Neon Brake Proportioning Valve Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Proportioning Valve on 2001 Dodge Neon?
A: You should first attach a brake pedal holder to hold the pedal back far enough so the master cylinder is cut off from brake hydraulic fluid. Take the brake tube off the valve you need to remove and detach the valve from the master cylinder. Compress the O-ring onto the proportioning valve, grease it and set it in place in the master cylinder port by tightening it with 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) of torque before installation. Secure the brake tube to the proportioning valve with a tightness of 17 Nm (145 inch lbs.). After removing the brake pedal holder, bleed the related brake line and check the brakes during a road test.
