How to Maintain and Fix a Front Shock Absorber on 2001 Jeep Wrangler?

First, open the access hole in the engine compartment and remove the nut, retainer and grommet from the upper stud. Once you're done with the steps above, unscrew the lower nuts and bolts on the axle bracket to dissconnect the shock absorber. While installing, fit the lower retainer and grommet over the upper stud and release the shock through the shock bracket hole. Tighten all lower bolts and nuts to 28 Nm (250 inch lb.) using a socket wrench. After that, assemble the upper grommet and retainer onto the stud before you secure the nut with torque at 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
