2002 Jeep Wrangler Engine Mount Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Engine Mount on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Start by disconnecting the car's ground strap and then raising the vehicle so the transmission is clear of the ground. Change the support cushion's nuts, then take out the skid plate bolts to separate the skid plate. For manual transmission, remove the nuts underneath the support cushion that attach it to the transmission support bracket, remove the support cushion and the bolts holding the bracket to the transmission, before removing the bracket. For automatic transmission, take off the nuts that hold the support cushion to the bracket and remove the cushion afterward. Then, unbolt the bracket from the transmission and remove it. If you are working on the manual transmission, fit the transmission mount directly to the transmission and tighten the bolts to 54 Nm or 40 ft. lbs. Secure the support cushion to the transmission mount bracket with nuts, tightened to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). For automatic transmission, place the bracket on the transmission, secure it with bolts tightened to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) and add the support cushion while tightening the nuts to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). If you see that the support cushion bracket is missing from the skid plate, fit the cushion onto the skid plate, secure it with the given nuts and bolts and tighten the nuts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). After that, place the skid plate over the support cushion studs, attach the nuts and screw them until you reach 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). After that, connect the skid plate bolts to the sill, tighten them to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.), take off the transmission support, lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
