2002 Jeep Wrangler Washer Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace a Rear Washer Pump/Motor in a Windshield Washer Pump System on 2002 Jeep Wrangler?
A: Unplug the battery's negative cable to begin removing the rear washer pump/motor. Next up, remove the washer supply hose from the back end of the pump/motor unit, letting the fuel dispense into a clean container you can keep. Remove the connector from the washer pump/motor spot on the rear body wire harness. Holding the trim tool gently, work to lift half out of the rubber seal around the rear washer pump/motor unit. Let go of the rear washer pump/motor unit from the washer reservoir and throw out the rubber grommet seal from the mount hole. Begin by inserting a new seal into the mounting hole for the pump side of the rear washer and fit the pump's inlet nipple into it. Hold the nippled inlet securely and drive it gently through the seal, to make sure the reservoir is safe. Attach the rear body wire harness connector to the end of the washer pump/motor wire harness and fasten the washer supply hose to the rear pump/motor barbed nipple. Replace the washer fluid, put the battery negative cable back and the job is done.
