How to Maintain a Brake Light Switch on 2003 Dodge Durango?

The first step in brake light switch service is to unplug the switch harness. After the brake pedal is pressed and held down, turn the switch counterclockwise about 30° so that the switch lock tab fits into the notch in the bracket, then pull the switch rearward and take it out of the mounting bracket. To install, press the brake pedal, insert the tab on the new switch into the notch, put it in the plastic bracket and rotate it so it's locked. After that, join the harness wires to the switch and let go of the brake pedal. After that, activate the release lever on the switch, as this engages the plunger inside and completes the adjustment that you cannot go back on.
