2004 Chrysler Crossfire Air Bag Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service an Air Bag Sensor on 2004 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: Before servicing the impact sensor, disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for two minutes for the system capacitor to drain. Pull straight up on the door sill trim plate to release it from its clips after you have taken out the ignition key. After that, take away the plastic cover at the front of the seat track and unscrew the bolts on the front seat. Following that, remove the bolts that attach the rear seat and the seat belt and then remove the seat. Removing the carpet hold down behind the wall allows you to turn the carpet forward for easy access to the side impact sensor below the seat. Take the cover off the side impact sensor, push the wire harness back into the body, unscrew the two screws and take out the sensor car from the car. Fasten the bolts to fix the side impact sensor in position on the body rail during installation. Plug in the side impact sensor wire, place the carpet down all the way and install the carpet hold down. Replace the front seats, fix them with their bolts and lastly, slide the plastic cover back onto the seat track. Add the rear seat bolts and the seat belt, then fit the door sill trim plate down onto the clips. After that, place the ignition key, but wait on the final step, as the test procedure for the supplemental restraint system must come after you service any component of it.
