2004 Chrysler Pacifica A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: You should start by removing the refrigerant from the system and taking out the air cleaner housing to service and repair the A/C accumulator. Next, unscrew the bolt joining the top of the accumulator to the front and rear ends of the liquid line, then detach the fittings on the liquid line from the accumulator and toss away their seals. Make sure to plug or tape over the ports on the liquid line and accumulator to stop contamination. Loosen and remove the two nuts holding the accumulator mounting bracket to the weld studs on the front right side strut tower, then pull the accumulator from the engine compartment. If you replace the accumulator, mix in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of the recommended refrigerant oil to the refrigerant system. Screw on the new accumulator to the weld studs on the strut tower and tighten the nuts to 10 Nm (89 in. lbs.). Take off the tape or plugs from the liquid line fittings and accumulator ports, put clean refrigerant oil on the new rubber O-ring seals and fit them into the liquid line fittings. First, link back the front and rear portions of the liquid line to the accumulator, then use bolts to secure the fittings at 11 Nm (100 in. lbs.). Replace the housing for the air cleaner, remove all the refrigerant and refill the system with refrigerant.
