2005 Chrysler Pacifica A/C Accumulator Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Accumulator on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing or repairing the A/C accumulator, first extract the refrigerant and then remove the air cleaner housing. After that, undo the bolts at the front and back of the A/C liquid line on the A/C accumulator, cut them off and dispose of the O-ring seals. After opening the liquid line fittings and the A/C accumulator ports, place tape or plugs over them and loosen the two strut tower nuts, removing the A/C accumulator. Should the A/C accumulator be replaced, put in 30 milliliters (1 fluid ounce) of recommended refrigerant oil into the system. Put the new A/C accumulator over the weld studs on the strut tower and screw in both nuts, tightening each to 10 N.m. Draw the tape away from the fittings and the A/C accumulator ports, grease the new rubber O-rings with pure refrigerant oil and put the O-rings onto the liquid line fittings. Secure the A/C liquid line at the front of the car to the A/C accumulator, do the same for the line at the back and tighten every bolt using 11 N.m (100 in. lbs.). After that, put back the air cleaner housing, empty the refrigerant system and put more refrigerant into the system.
