2004 Chrysler Pacifica Crankshaft Seal Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Crankshaft Seal on 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Start By Removing The Transaxle From The Vehicle, Then Eliminate The Drive Plate To Drain The Flavor Bearing. Work a 3/16" flat screwdriver carefully up against both the dust lip and the metal case of the crankshaft seal, attracting the screwdriver's blade against the metal to release the crankshaft seal without touching the crankshaft seal surface, but adjacent to the crankshaft edge (Chamfer). Check the condition of the crankshaft edge with Burrs or scratches. If necessary, use 400 grit sandpaper to clean it before application. Then, install Special Tool 6926-1 Guide on the crankshaft so it acts as a pilot tool with its magnetic base. Cover the seal onto the pilot tool such that the lip of the seal points at the crankshaft and leave the pilot tool on the crankshaft to guide the seal in. After all that, insert Special Tool 6926-2 Installer and use C-4171 Handle to drive the seal into the retainer housing until it is even with the housing surface. After that, install the drive plate and transaxle.
