2004 Dodge Dakota Camshaft Position Sensor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Camshaft Position Sensor on a 3.7L V-6 Engine on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, take off the CMP sensor's electrical connector and then remove the mounting bolt before twisting the sensor off the cylinder head and checking its O-ring. For assembly, empty the machined hole in the cylinder head, then cover the sensor O-ring with a small drop of engine oil. Before tightening the mounting bolt, gently rock and twist the sensor into place so it rests completely flush to the cylinder head, to avoid harming the sensor mounting part. Afterward, install the mounting bolt according to the recommended tightening and connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
