2004 Dodge Dakota Throttle Position Sensor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Install a Throttle Position Sensor on 2004 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, you should unhook the TPS electrical connector, remove the two screws used to secure the sensor and finally, remove the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS). For installation, after connecting the throttle body end to the TPS, verify the throttle shaft moves a little; if it does not, put the sensor in the other way so it slides on the opposite end of the sensor tangs. TPS will experience slight tension when you rotate it. Put the TPS in its position, then install and tighten the retaining screws to 7 Nm (60 in. Lbs.). Once the TPS electrical connector is hooked back up, rev the throttle a few times by hand to make sure everything in the TPS operates freely before you start the engine. Afterward, put the air cleaner tube into the throttle body.
