2005 Chrysler Crossfire Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain an Evaporator on 2005 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: On cars with air bags, start by unplugging the negative (ground) battery cable to turn off the air bag system, then wait for two minutes so the capacitor can discharge. Take out the HVAC housing and the heater core at the start of the process. After that, open up the top of the HVAC housing by removing the four screws and taking out the aluminum valve strip. Take out the vacuum lines from the vacuum port and then slide the clips that attach the blower housing to the air distribution housing until they come apart. Unfasten the four clips and undo the screw on the back of the expansion valve and finally the foam gasket will be accessible. Take off the spring clips holding up the air distribution housing and remove the evaporator from it. Place the evaporator into its housing and then attach the upper air distribution housing again using the spring clips. After that, insert the foam gasket and the screw at the expansion valve, snap the blower housing onto the air distribution housing using the two sliding clips and install the four spring clips. Attach the vacuum lines onto the vacuum element, put the valve strip back in place, install the heater core and lastly attach the housing for the HVAC.
