  A: Before working on the blend door actuator, first turn off the air bag on cars with air bags by disconnecting the negative battery cable and letting the system discharge for two minutes. The system uses blend door actuators on both sides, one for the driver and one for the passenger. First, pull out the silencer under the driver side end of the instrument panel. Take off the wire that runs to the blend door actuator, remove its screws and pull the actuator out of the HVAC air distribution housing. When installing, attach the actuator over the air distribution housing so its output shaft lines up with the blend air door linkage. Mount the actuator with screws, tightening them to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.), before joining the HVAC wire harness together again. After that, fit the silencer under the driver side end of the instrument panel, reattach the negative battery cable and calibrate the A/C-heater control.
