2005 Chrysler Pacifica Blower Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the Blower Motor Under the Passenger Side Instrument Panel on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Start by disconnecting and isolating the negative battery cable to turn off the air bag system and wait for two minutes for the capacitor to discharge, before handling the blower motor. Take off the passenger side trim panel and lift the carpet to get to the front upper screw securing the air inlet housing. Take away the recirculation door actuator and its wire lead from the routing clip on the lower air inlet housing. For your application, remove the wire lead from the blower motor resistor or power module. First, remove the screw from the top of the bottom air inlet housing that holds it to the top air inlet housing, then undo the four screws securing the bottom to the top from the bottom side and the HVAC housing will be loose. Pull the rubber blower motor wire lead grommet into the lower air inlet housing hole, then insert the blower motor wire lead through the hole and remove the entire housing from the vehicle. Turn the recirculation-air door as need be to access and remove the three screws connecting the blower motor to the housing. Once done, gently bend the recirculation air door to take the blower motor and its wheel off. While putting in the blower motor, arrange it between the two sides of the HVAC housing, centering the blower motor mounting tabs as you align them. Fit the recirculation-air door to support the blower motor and wheel, then hold them in place with three screws turned until they reach 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Push the blower motor's lead wire through the small opening in the air inlet housing and snap the rubber grommet into place. Insert the recirculation-air door pivot into the bottom of the inlet housing and install the four bolts from below, securing the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing and the lower HVAC housing, tightening them only to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Place the top screw into the inlet housing junction, secure the lower to the upper inlet housing with it and tighten it to 2 N.m (17 in. lbs.). Attach the blower motor wire lead connector to the blower motor resistor or power module, put the recirculation door actuator in place and connect its wire lead to the proper clip in the lower air inlet housing. Reinstall the carpet on the passenger side, the passenger side cowl trim panel, reconnect the negative battery cable and do the heater-A/C control calibration.
