2005 Chrysler Pacifica Brake Pad Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Repair Brake Pads on 2005 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: Before servicing the front brake pads, remove the master cylinder fluid reservoir cap and raise the vehicle. After taking out the hub, apply the C-Clamp to the brake so that the screw-drive faces the outboard shoe and the hook fits against the caliper itself. As you tighten the C-Clamp, the outboard brake shoe will lift free of the caliper fingers, but don't overtighten. When you're done attaching the outboard shoe, replace the caliper while moving it towards the other part to open a gap between the rotor and inboard shoe. Grab the inboard shoe with a prying tool and pull it out carefully so as not to dent the piston areas. Unlock the bolts that anchor the two brake caliper guide pins and take off the disc brake caliper, hanging it from something out of your way, being careful not to stretch the brake hose too far as you do this. Take the brake shoes out from the disc brake caliper adapter and attach the master cylinder fluid reservoir cap. While installing, slide each brake shoe into its clip on the adapter so that the mounting is done properly. Remove the noise suppression gasket paper only if present on the rear of both inner and outer brake shoes. Retract the piston all the way back into the caliper bore and fit the disc brake caliper around the shoes on the adapter plate. With the caliper guide pin bolt holes coordinated with the guide pins, fit the caliper guide pin bolts and fasten the upper bolt to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.) and the lower bolt to the same torque value. Attach the assembly to the car and fasten the wheel mounting nuts to 135 Nm or 100 ft. lbs. Bring the car to the ground and push the brake pedal several times to put the shoes against the caliper and rotor. Ensure you review and adjust the brake fluid when needed and take the car out for a drive, stopping a few times to let any leftover material from removal wear away and seal the brake shoes.
