2005 Dodge Dakota Heater Core Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Heater Core on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step is to lift the HVAC housing and set it on a bench, then to break down the housing by unscrewing its fasteners. If you notice problems with the foam seal around the heater core, a replacement is needed. Lift the heater core gently from inside the lower part of the HVAC assembly. Should you notice the rubber flange surrounding the heater core tubes is damaged or distorted, it must be swapped out. Should it be needed, detach the rubber flange from around the heater core tubes. Otherwise, take out the rubber flange, fit it gently over the heater core tubes and the foam seal and secure everything in the housing of the HVAC assembly. Make sure to place the heater core in the lower portion of the HVAC housing and finish assembling the unit; if you're also replacing the heater core, flush the cooling system before building the HVAC housing.
