2005 Dodge Dakota A/C Hose Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an A/C Hose on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: To carry out service or repair on the A/C liquid line, first empty all the refrigerant from the refrigerant loop and disconnect the negative wire from the battery. Unplug the wire harness connector from the A/C pressure transducer, remove the air filter housing and take off the nut holding the A/C liquid line to the condenser outlet. Remove the hose going from the A/C condenser to the wall, throw out the O-ring and gasket and get rid of the clips holding the hose to the car. Take out the secondary retaining clip from the spring-lock coupler connecting the A/C liquid line to the evaporator inlet tube and then use the right A/C line disconnect tool to remove the line from the evaporator inlet tube, throwing away the O-ring seals. Seal the holes at both ends of the A/C liquid line and on the condenser and evaporator ports and then take out the A/C liquid line from the engine compartment. If you must, take the A/C pressure transducer off the A/C liquid line. If necessary, pinch off the A/C hose, place the A/C pressure transducer on the liquid A/C line and put the line in the engine compartment. Remove or pull off all of the tape and plugs from the open ends, apply refrigerant oil to the new O-rings and place them on the spring-lock part of the liquid line fittings, choosing the specific O-rings available for R-134a-equipped A/C systems and the proper refrigerant oil for the compressor. Connect the A/C liquid line to where the evaporator inlet tube joins, place the extra retaining clip onto the end of the spring-lock coupler and secure the line into the surrounding clips. After lubricating the seal with oil, fit it, along with a gasket, over the edge of the liquid line fitting and join the liquid line to the condenser. Slide in and tighten the A/C nut onto the condenser outlet port to 20 N.m. Attach the air filter housing, join the wire harness to the A/C pressure transducer, reconnect the cable on the negative battery, evacuate the refrigerant system and charge it.
