2005 Dodge Dakota Wheel Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Wheel Cylinder on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Wheel and tire removal should come before the brake drum, as the wheel cylinder is accessed behind it. After that, remove the brake shoe return spring and push the shoes away from the cylinder. Take the brake line off the wheel cylinder, remove all the bolts and raise the cylinder from the support plate. With installation, attach the new cylinder and tighten its mounting bolts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). After reconnecting the brake line, have the brake return spring fit into the cylinder and then slide the drum onto its spot on the wheel. Afterwards, connect the wheel and tire back and bleed the base brake system.
