Before handling the Driver air bag, make sure the battery ground wire is removed and then give the car two minutes to drain the reserve capacitor. If you are removing an air bag, be sure to wear rubber gloves, safety glasses and a long-sleeved shirt to keep yourself from becoming irritated by any surface residue. Remove the screws found on the back of the Driver air bag, lift the air bag away from the steering wheel and disconnect the two wires leading to the air bag as you remove it. To install the air bag squib wire, press it straight in to the Driver air bag until you hear a secure snap. After that, connect the horn, place the Driver air bag in the air bag cavity and secure the two bolts by tightening them equally to 10 to 11 Nm (90 to 100 in. lbs.).
