  • Q: How to Bleed a Brake Master Cylinder on 2005 Dodge Neon?
    A: First, place the brake master cylinder in a vise before bleeding it. If the brake master cylinder isn't an ABS type, use four Brake Master Cylinder Bleed Tubes (Special Tool 8358-1) on the four ports of the brake master cylinder, with the tubes for the rear brakes going to the proportioning valves and place the other ends in the brake master cylinder reservoir so their openings are in the fluid. For an ABS unit, connect the primary port to Brake Master Cylinder Bleed Tube, Special Tool 8358-1 and the secondary port to Brake Master Cylinder Bleed Tube, Special Tool 8358-2, both submerged in brake fluid. In the brake reservoir, use Mopar brake fluid that fulfills the DOT 3 guidelines or a comparable regular DOT 3 fluid. Place a wooden dowel along the pushrod and press both pistons in gently to stop the car, until pressure is applied. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all visible bubbles from the tubes and the brake master cylinder bore. Remove the bleed tubes from inside the brake master cylinder after pumping, insert keyed stoppers into the bleed outports, fit the reservoir with a fill cap and take the brake master cylinder out of the vise.
