2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wheel Stud Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Replace Wheel Studs on the Rear Wheels on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before changing the rear wheel studs, lift and support the vehicle and afterward remove the tire and wheel, then the brake caliper and rotor. Take stud 2 off the hub with Remover 8677 and then use a screwdriver to take out stud 1 from in between the hub, bearing and brake shoes 2. During installation, first put the new stud 1 into the hub flange, then turn it as it passes between the bearings/hub and the park brake shoes 2. Set three washers on the stud and thread the lug nut flat side down onto them, tightening until the stud is drawn into the hub flange and sits well. Once the lug nut and washers are removed, mount the brake rotor and caliper back on the axle, place the wheel and tire and use a brand new lug nut to secure the wheel to the studs. Then, take out the support and slowly lower the vehicle.
