2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Wiper Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Front Wiper Motor on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Start by removing the battery's negative cable and then take the front wiper module out of the cowl plenum before putting it on a firm work area. Using two thick screwdrivers to separate them, pry the crank arm away from the side of the wiper drive link's socket bushing until it unsnaps. Carry out this procedure again for the sleeve bushing of the left wiper drive link. Use big channel-lock pliers to twist the crank arm on the wiper motor so that it points straight along the wiper arm's central axis and the ball stud is at its most distant point from the motor. Bring out the three screws holding the motor to the bracket and pull out the wiper motor and the crank arm together. For installation, lay the crank arm alongside the motor armature and attach it to the motor bracket. Screw in and fix the three screws to 5.5 Nm (48 in lbs) torque. Slide the sleeve bushing from the left wiper drive link over the ball stud on the crank arm while using a short 19 millimeter or 3/4 inch socket, then tighten the bushing with large channel-lock pliers, trying not to touch the plastic bushing directly. Repeat the same thing for the socket bushing of the right wiper drive link. Install the front wiper module back into the cowl plenum in the last step.
