2005 Jeep Liberty Hazard Warning Switch Parts and Q&A
Q: How to maintain a Hazard Warning Switch on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Arrange for the hazard warning switch service by cutting off the fuel and removing the car's negative battery cable, then wait twice the number of seconds before plugging it in to avoid an accidental release of air bags. Release the screw first by removing the hazard switch, while pushing the radio from inside the panel first. With your head and shoulders inside the car, place a finger into each latch tab of the stamped metal hazard switch mounting bracket from the radio opening, pull down and to the rear which will disengage them from the trim. Press the hazard switch button through the opening to take out the alignment pins from behind the trim, then pull the switch down into the radio opening to pull out the wireless from the rear of the switch. Place the hazard switch module over the area on the radio where the signal comes through, then connect the wiring back onto the radio. Make sure the switch button goes through the button opening and the alignment pins are seated inside the ramp formations, then press the switch upwards on the back until the tabs fit into the trim. Firm the switch in place by installing and tightening the screw to 2 N.m (17 in.lbs), replace the radio and finally secure the negative battery connection.
