2005 Jeep Liberty Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Shock Absorber on the Right Side on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Proceed by first taking out the air box and after that take off the nuts under both cruise control servos and above the shock mount. Elevate and back up the car and then take out the right side tire assembly. After that, remove the bolt under the clevis bracket at the lower control, then take out the stabilizer link and the nut from the lower ball joint. Remove the lower ball joint using tool C-4150A, then push the lower control arm down to get access. Release the clevis bracket from the shock, then remove the shock assembly and the spring (if this step is important in your vehicle). For setup, start by connecting the spring to the shock, if needed and then install the shock assembly into the vehicle. Fit and tighten the four nuts that mount the upper shock with 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs. of torque) and then properly install the clevis bracket at the shock by tightening the bolt to 88 Nm (65 ft. lbs.). Put the lower control into the chassis and reattach the ball joint nut, turning it to 81 Nm (60 ft. lbs.). On the front side, put the clevis bracket onto the lower control arm and tighten the bolt to 150 Nm (110 ft. lbs.) and next add the lower stabilizer link at the lower control arm and tighten it to 136 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Then, reinstall the correct tire and wheel assembly, drive the vehicle down and finish by connecting the nuts on the cruise control servo mount and the airbox.
