2005 Jeep Liberty Wheel Bearing Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Wheel Bearing on 2005 Jeep Liberty?
A: Support the vehicle, take off the wheel and tire, then take out the caliper adapter, checking that the disc brake caliper gets good support so the brake hose is not exposed to damage. Following this, take out the disc brake rotor, wheel speed sensor and wire bracket. If your vehicle uses four-wheel drive, remove the axle shaft nut and all three mounting bolts for the hub/bearing assembly before removing the hub/bearing. Place the hub/bearing assembly on the vehicle, then use three bolts to mount it and tighten them to 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs.). If the car uses four-wheel drive, fit the axle shaft nut and torque it down to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.). Clip the speed sensor wire to the bracket, put the wheel speed sensor onto the hub and tighten the bolt using 13.5 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). At this stage, reattach the disc brake rotor, screw the disc brake caliper adapter to the wheel with the nut tightened to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.) and connect the wheel and tire.
