2006 Chrysler Crossfire Brake Caliper Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Install a Front Brake Caliper on 2006 Chrysler Crossfire?
A: To start, raise and hold the vehicle securely and take out the front wheel and tire assembly. Grab a clean suction gun to drain some fluid from the brake reservoir and unplug the brake pad wear indicator connector after that. Pull the brake pad wear indicator from the caliper by removing its bolt, then use something flat to press the caliper piston so it goes all the way into the caliper. Carefully remove the caliper support spring, loosen the caps over the slide pins and slide out the pins, then remove the caliper. Do not pour brake fluid on finished surfaces since it might result in damage. After that, pull the brake hose from the caliper and remove both the inboard and outboard brake pads from it. Open up the caliper to clean its interior and check everything inside. Put both the inboard and outboard brake pads onto the caliper, add silicone grease to the slide pins and bushings and attach the caliper to the bracket. Add the caliper slide pins and tighten them till they reach 25 Nm and next, add the caps. Install the brake wear indicator into the caliper, tighten its bolt to 8 Nm or 6 ft. lbs. and link the indicator to the brake pad. Instead the caliper support spring along the top caliper bracket and push its free end into the hole of the caliper down below. With the spring in place, use the screwdriver to pry off and down the end of the brake mount, verifying the brake hose is free of twists and bends and tighten the fitting after that. Attach the brake hose to the caliper, fully fill the brake system, bleed it and then secure the wheel and tire again. Avoid moving your vehicle until you have a firm brake pedal, then lower it and pump the pedal gently, making sure the caliper pistons and brake pads have seated for a firm response. Afterwards, add more brake fluid if it's needed and check for leaks.
