2006 Dodge Durango Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Rocker Arm Assembly on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: Before servicing the rocker arm assembly, unhook the battery's negative cable to prevent accidental starting. Take out the cylinder head cover. Crank the engine until you see cylinder No. 1 at BDC intake before removing the rocker arm from cylinder No. 4. For No. 1 cylinder, turn the crankshaft until it reaches BDC combustion stroke. Rotate the crankshaft for cylinders No. 3 and No. 5, so that cylinder No. 1 reaches TDC as you watch exhaust stroke. Cast away the cylinder head cover for Nos. 2 and 6 until the cylinder connected to the TDC marker is cylinder No. 1. To remove the rocker arm, use the Special Tool 8516 Rocker Arm Remover and press down on the valve spring. Press Tool 8516 down on the valve spring after installing the rocker arms so their concave side faces the lash adjusters to avoid causing serious harm. Rocker arms should be coated in clean engine oil just before putting them in place. Before installing the rocker arm on cylinder No. 4, turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reaches BDC intake. Crankshaft the engine so that cylinder No. 1 is at the bottom spot where intake starts. For No. 3 and No. 5 cylinders, turn the crankshaft to the point where the exhaust stroke on cylinder No. 1 reaches its highest position. When working on cylinders No. 2 and No. 6, turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reaches its TDC ignition stroke. After everything else is finished, install the cylinder head cover.
