2005 Dodge Durango Rocker Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Rocker Arm on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: Before starting on the rocker arm, disconnect the battery cable to ensure the starter does not run when you're working. Put the engine into neutral position, then remove the cylinder head cover. Turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 is at the bottom of the intake stroke for rocker arm removal on No. 4 cylinder. Move the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 is at bottom dead center of the combustion stroke. For cylinders No. 3 and No. 5, twist the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 is ready to release exhaust gas. For cylinders No. 2 and No. 6, crank the engine until No. 1 cylinder reaches TDC ignition stroke. To remove the rocker arm, press down forcefully using Special Tool 8516 Rocker Arm Remover. Place the rocker arms so the concave pocket sits above the lash adjusters to prevent major harm. Clean the rocker arms with oil right before you install them. Before assembly, rotate the crankshaft until the bottom of cylinder No. 4 intake stroke is reached and No. 1 is located at its lowest point. Turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reaches bottom center (BDC) combustion stroke for that cylinder. On cylinders No. 3 and No. 5, rotate the crankshaft until you reach TDC when cylinder No. 1 is on the exhaust stroke. Turn the crankshaft until cylinder No. 1 reaches its TDC ignition stroke for cylinders No. 2 and No. 6. Without delay, fit the cylinder head cover in place.
