2006 Dodge Durango Seat Motor Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Seat Motor for Height Adjustment in a Power Seat on 2006 Dodge Durango?
A: For your safety and that of the motor, first separate and isolate the negative battery cable. Do not handle a motor that does not operate when the seat is not fully up because the weight of the spring can cause the assembly to move or the motor to twist. Unscrew the motor on the seat you've taken out and remove the seat cushion and pan. Remove the electrical connectors from the motor and eliminate the bolts connecting it to the seat adjuster. After that, take out the screw and washer from the motor shaft and remove the motor. To install, set the seat adjuster all the way up, then align the motor with the end of it. Screw the motor shaft to the shaft plate, just tight enough so it doesn't move with a hand tightening. Set the screws on the motor firmly into the seat adjuster, twisting the motor little if it makes the holes fit better for the screws. Tighten the screws on the motor to 9 N.m and those on the motor shaft to 6.5 N.m. Connect the electrical connector to the motor, install the seat cushion, connect the wire harness to its pan and finally set up the seat assembly. Reattach the negative battery cable and see if your power seat works properly.
