2006 Jeep Commander Evaporator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair an Evaporator on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: To maintain the evaporator core, first take out the HVAC housing and dismantle it to get access to the A/C evaporator. Undo the rubber seal and gently remove the evaporator and insulator from the bottom part of the HVAC housing. Should you decide, pull out the rubber seal from the lower part of the HVAC assembly and change it if you find it damaged or deformed. If the insulator around the coils is fragile, take it out and replaces it if needed. Adding 60 milliliters (2 fluid ounces) of oil to the refrigerant is a requirement for installing a new front A/C evaporator; use only the recommended oil for your vehicle's compressor. Should the insulator be removed, place it over the A/C evaporator and if you remove the rubber seal, put it back into the lower part of the HVAC casing, changing it if deformed or damaged. After that, attach the A/C evaporator inside the HVAC housing's lower section, remembers to clean the evaporator drain and seal the unit with its insulator and seal carefully. In the final part, put the HVAC box together and connect it to your vehicle.
